We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

Which UK Companies Need Confirmation Statement Filing?
Most UK companies registered at Companies House generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. This applies to active, dormant, non-trading and newly formed companies alike — being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file one.
- Limited companies registered in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
- Dormant companies with no accounting transactions during the period
- Companies that are not currently trading but remain on the register
- Newly incorporated companies approaching their first review period
- Companies whose directors, shareholders or registered office details have changed
- Companies that have already filed their annual accounts but still need to confirm their Companies House record

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Do?
A confirmation statement — often referred to as a CS01 filing — is the document a company uses to confirm that the information Companies House holds about it is accurate and up to date. It is a separate filing from your statutory annual accounts and from your Corporation Tax Return (CT600), and none of these can be used in place of the others.
- Registered office address and company contact details
- The names and details of the company's directors and secretary, where applicable
- Shareholder information, including shareholdings and share transfers
- People with significant control (PSC) information and any changes to it
- Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
- The statement of capital, including share classes and amounts paid
- Confirmation that the information shown is correct, followed by the statement of compliance
- Note that certain changes, such as a change of registered office or the appointment of a new director, must be reported to Companies House separately rather than waiting for the confirmation statement

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date. It is sometimes called a CS01, which is the form reference used for the filing. It is not a set of accounts and it is not a tax return — it is a check that the public register reflects the reality of your company, from your registered office address and directors through to your shareholders and people with significant control.
Most companies registered at Companies House need to file a confirmation statement, including companies that are trading, companies that are dormant, companies that are not currently trading, and newly incorporated companies. There are limited circumstances in which a company may not be required to file, and these depend on the company's specific situation. If you are unsure whether your company falls into one of those categories, it is worth checking your company's filing requirements rather than assuming the obligation does not apply.
UK companies generally need to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months, even if the company is dormant or not trading. This 12-month window is known as the review period, and Companies House sets a deadline shortly after it ends. Importantly, a company can file more than one confirmation statement during a review period — for example, if information changes and you want the register updated without waiting for the next 12-month point.
The confirmation statement is a chance to review the core details Companies House holds: the registered office address, the directors and company secretary where applicable, shareholder information and shareholdings, people with significant control, SIC codes describing the company's activities, and the statement of capital. If everything is correct, the statement of compliance simply confirms that. If something has changed, the register needs to be updated so the confirmation statement reflects the true position.
Some changes can be reflected as part of your confirmation statement, but others must be reported to Companies House separately and often promptly. For example, appointing or terminating a director, changing the registered office address, or certain changes to share capital typically require their own notification rather than being left until the confirmation statement is due. Because the rules depend on the type of change, it is sensible to have someone check the position and handle any separate filings alongside the confirmation statement.
Yes, in most cases they do. Being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement, because the purpose of the filing is to confirm that the information on the register is accurate — not to report trading activity or profits. A dormant company may have a much shorter confirmation statement to check, but the obligation to file generally remains.
They are two entirely separate filings with different purposes and different deadlines. A confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about your company is correct. Annual accounts, by contrast, report your company's financial position and performance for an accounting period and are prepared to a different set of requirements. Filing one does not satisfy the other, and your accounting period deadline should not be confused with your confirmation statement review period.
A confirmation statement goes to Companies House and confirms company information held on the public register. A Corporation Tax Return, usually filed as a CT600, goes to HMRC and reports the company's taxable profits and tax position. They are handled by different bodies, serve different purposes and have their own deadlines. Filing a confirmation statement does not discharge your Corporation Tax obligations, just as filing a CT600 does not update your Companies House record.
Failing to file a confirmation statement when it is due can have serious consequences. The company and its officers can be committing an offence, and Companies House can take action that may ultimately include striking the company off the register. Falling behind can also create problems later when you need to prove your company's standing — for example when dealing with banks, lenders or other parties who check the register. The safest approach is to file on time and keep the record accurate.
We start by reviewing the information Companies House currently holds for your company, then compare it against what you tell us is correct today. Any details that need updating are identified, and we handle the confirmation statement submission on your behalf, keeping you informed at each stage. If separate notifications are required — such as a director change or a new registered office — we can help you deal with those as well, so nothing is overlooked.
Getting started is simple. Tell us your company name and number, share any changes that have taken place since the last filing, and we will confirm what needs to be done and when it is due. From there, your confirmation statement submission can be prepared and filed accurately, with clear communication throughout. If you are also looking after annual accounts or other Companies House information updates, we can bring those together into one straightforward service.
