First Year Accounts for Limited Company in Tarporley — Prepared Properly, Filed Where Required

Your company’s first set of statutory accounts sets the tone for everything that follows. Micro Entity Accounts supports newly incorporated and newly trading limited companies in Tarporley with First Year Accounts for Limited Company preparation, starting with a proper review of the accounting records you hold — bank transactions, sales and expense records, asset purchases, director loans, share capital details and any payroll or VAT records where relevant. From there, we prepare the statutory accounts in the appropriate reporting framework where your company is eligible, including the balance sheet and, where applicable, the profit and loss account, and we assist with delivery to Companies House where required. Corporation Tax is a separate matter dealt with by HMRC, and where a CT600 is needed we can support that alongside your accounts, but it is not submitted by filing with Companies House. Directors remain responsible for the company’s compliance, and our role is to make the preparation and filing process clear, accurate and well organised from the outset.

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Your first filing timeline

Incorporation

Your first filing timeline depends on your company's incorporation date and accounting reference date.

Accounting reference date

Set by default to the last day of the month of incorporation, one year on.

First accounts due

Normally 21 months after incorporation at Companies House.

First CT600 due

12 months after the end of the accounting period, with tax due earlier.

What Are First Year Accounts for a Micro Company?

First year accounts are the initial set of annual statutory accounts a limited company prepares for its first accounting period. They are not optional simply because the company is new, and they are not the same thing as a tax return. As soon as a company is incorporated, it takes on statutory reporting obligations, and the first accounts are usually the first substantial set of figures it has to produce. A newly incorporated company in Tarporley may have traded for months, for a few weeks, or may have had very limited activity — the filing obligation generally still applies, even where no sales have been made. The first accounting period normally runs from the date of incorporation to the company’s first accounting reference date, which is set when the company is formed. That first period is often longer than twelve months, and subsequent periods usually cover a full year, although there are circumstances in which an accounting reference date can be changed subject to the applicable rules. Because the dates are specific to each company, the period covered and the deadline for delivering the accounts depend on the company’s own incorporation date and accounting reference date rather than a single fixed rule for everyone. Some newly incorporated companies qualify to prepare accounts under the micro-entity framework, which is the simplified reporting regime available to entities that meet the relevant eligibility conditions for the accounting period in question. FRS 105 is the financial reporting standard that applies to qualifying entities using that framework. Qualifying is not automatic, and it is not determined purely by turnover or by the fact that a company is new — directors should confirm eligibility based on their company’s circumstances. Where the micro-entity framework is not available, small-company reporting may apply instead, or full accounts may be required. First-year statutory accounts are distinct from other compliance tasks. A Corporation Tax Return, such as a CT600, is submitted to HMRC, and the company’s first Corporation Tax accounting period may not be identical to the period covered by its statutory accounts. A confirmation statement is a separate filing that confirms the company’s registered details, and it does not replace the accounts. VAT Returns and payroll submissions are separate again, and only apply where the company is registered for VAT or operates a payroll. Accounts preparation draws on the company’s accounting records, so well-kept bank transactions, invoices, expense records and supporting documents make the process far more straightforward.

Does Your New Company Qualify as a Micro Entity?

Even in your first period, your company must meet the Companies House size criteria to file micro-entity accounts. A company generally needs to meet at least two of these three conditions.

Business Turnover

Annual Turnover of £1 Million or less. (£632,000 previously)

Balance Sheet

Balance sheet total of £500,000 or less.(£316,000 previously)

Company Size

On an average 10 or less employees
(10 or less previously)

Get Your First-Year Limited Company Accounts Prepared by People Who Do This Every Day

If your company has recently been incorporated and you are unsure what the first set of statutory accounts should include, when they are due, or which reporting framework applies, you are not alone — it is one of the most common questions we hear from directors in Tarporley. Micro Entity Accounts helps you work through the practical steps: reviewing your accounting records, preparing the first-year accounts accurately, confirming the right framework where your company is eligible, and assisting with Companies House filing where required. Alongside that, we can explain how Corporation Tax fits in separately through HMRC and what supporting information is needed. Appointing an accountant does not remove the directors’ legal responsibilities, but it does mean the figures and filings are handled by someone who deals with first-year company accounts regularly. If you would rather start your company’s reporting history on a sound footing than guess at it, speak to us about your first-year accounts.

They are the company's first set of annual statutory accounts, covering the period from incorporation through to its first accounting reference date. They normally include a balance sheet and, where applicable, a profit and loss account, together with the supporting notes required by the reporting framework the company uses. They are prepared from the company's accounting records and are separate from any Corporation Tax Return submitted to HMRC.

In most cases, yes — a limited company generally has to deliver statutory accounts to Companies House where required, even in its first period. The obligation is not removed because the company is new or has had limited activity. There are limited circumstances where a company's reporting position differs, so it is worth confirming your company's own position rather than assuming.

It depends on your company's incorporation date and accounting reference date. Companies House deadlines are calculated from the accounting reference date, and the first accounts period is often treated differently from later years, so the deadline for a company incorporated in Tarporley will not necessarily match another company's. We look at your specific dates and confirm the filing position for your company.

Typically the accounting records covering the period: bank statements and transactions, sales and income records, purchase invoices and business expenses, details of any assets bought, director transactions and loans, share capital information, and payroll or VAT records where the company operates those. Not every company will have all of these, and we will tell you what is relevant to your circumstances rather than asking for documents you do not need.

No. Statutory accounts are prepared for the company's members and delivered to Companies House where required. A Corporation Tax Return such as a CT600 is submitted separately to HMRC where the company has Corporation Tax obligations. The figures in the accounts often inform the tax return, but they are two different filings going to two different places, and completing one does not complete the other.

A company may still have statutory filing obligations even where it has had little or no activity, so the fact that trading has not begun does not automatically remove the requirement. Whether a company can be treated as dormant for filing purposes depends on its specific circumstances and the applicable rules, and that is a separate question from simply being new. We can review your position and advise on the correct approach.

Some newly incorporated companies do qualify, but it is not automatic and it is not decided by the company being new or having low turnover alone. Micro-entity eligibility depends on meeting the applicable thresholds and conditions for the relevant accounting period, and where a company qualifies it can prepare accounts under the micro-entity framework using FRS 105. If it does not qualify, small-company or full reporting may apply instead.

No. They are separate requirements. First-year accounts deal with the company's financial reporting for its initial period, while a confirmation statement confirms the company's registered details with Companies House and must be filed in its own right. Keeping your Companies House information up to date is a director responsibility regardless of when your accounts are prepared.
