I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

First Year Accounts FAQs
Still unsure where you stand? Reach out to our UK team at info@microentityaccounts.co.uk and we will review your filing history with you.
First year accounts are the first set of statutory accounts your company prepares, covering the period from incorporation to its first accounting reference date. They generally include a balance sheet and, where applicable, a profit and loss account, plus any notes required by the reporting framework the company uses. They represent the company's first formal reporting of its financial position and are normally filed with Companies House where required.
Filing deadlines are not identical for every company. They depend on the incorporation date, the accounting reference date Companies House sets, and whether the first accounting period has been shortened or extended. Because of that, it is safer to confirm the deadline that applies to your specific company dates than to rely on a general rule. We check the dates recorded at Companies House and work to them when preparing and filing your first year accounts.
In most cases we need bank statements and transaction records for the period, sales and income records, purchase invoices and business expenses, details of any assets purchased, share capital information, any director transactions or loans, and finance agreements. Where the company runs payroll or is VAT registered, those records are relevant as well. If activity has been limited, the paperwork will be lighter, but we still need enough to show what has happened in the company since incorporation.
The accounts filing obligation comes from incorporation rather than from trading activity, so a company with little or no activity may still have a filing requirement. What needs to be reported depends on the company's circumstances and the applicable rules. A company with no significant accounting transactions is not automatically treated as dormant, since dormant status has its own conditions. We can review the position and confirm what applies to your company.
No. First year statutory accounts are prepared under company law and are generally filed with Companies House where required. A Corporation Tax Return, such as a CT600, is submitted to HMRC and deals with the company's tax position. They are separate filings with separate destinations, although information from the accounts often feeds into the tax return. Filing one does not complete the other, and the two accounting periods do not always match.
It may do, provided it meets the eligibility requirements for the relevant accounting period. Micro-entity status is not automatic for startups, and it is not granted simply because turnover is low. Where a company qualifies, FRS 105 is the financial reporting standard used for micro-entity accounts. We assess eligibility as part of preparing the accounts, then prepare them under the framework that fits the company's circumstances.
No, they are separate requirements. A confirmation statement confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company, such as its directors, registered office and share capital, is still accurate. Filing first year accounts does not satisfy or replace that duty, and a company in Church Stretton may need to deal with both. If any company details have changed during the year, it is worth reviewing them at the same time.
Filing after the applicable deadline can lead to consequences from Companies House, which may include a late filing penalty. Paying a penalty does not remove the requirement to file the outstanding accounts, and the outcome depends on the circumstances and how late the filing is. If accounts are already overdue, professional help with preparing and submitting them is often the quickest way forward, and any appeal against a penalty depends on the grounds available and the applicable rules.
