CT600 Tax Return Filing in Huddersfield – Prepare and File Your Company Tax Return with HMRC

CT600 Tax Return Filing is how a UK company reports its Corporation Tax position to HMRC, and getting it right matters. A CT600 is a Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC: it sets out the company’s income, allowable deductions and the resulting tax position for the accounting period, backed by a Corporation Tax computation where adjustments to the accounting figures are needed. It is important to be clear that this is not the same as the statutory accounts filed with Companies House, even though both are usually prepared from the same underlying accounting records. Our CT600 Tax Return Filing service for companies in Huddersfield helps you pull the figures together accurately, review the tax adjustments that may be required, and submit the return to HMRC in a clear and organised way. Whether you are a small or micro company with straightforward affairs or a business with more complex income streams, we focus on accuracy, clarity and convenience, with clear, transparent pricing and professional support from start to finish.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

What Does a CT600 Mean for a Micro-Entity Company?

There is no separate official form called a ‘micro-entity CT600’. A CT600 is simply the Company Tax Return that a UK company submits to HMRC, and the same form applies regardless of the company’s size or the accounting framework it uses. Where a company qualifies as a micro-entity, that status affects how its statutory accounts are prepared and filed with Companies House, typically under a simplified regime such as FRS 105, but it does not change the fact that the company may still have Corporation Tax obligations and may need to file a Company Tax Return with HMRC. It also does not mean the company is exempt from Corporation Tax, or that it automatically owes it — whether any Corporation Tax is payable depends on the company’s own circumstances and taxable position. The CT600 is separate from the statutory accounts, although the accounts and accounting records normally feed into the Corporation Tax calculation. One important point is that taxable profit is not always the same as accounting profit: the Corporation Tax computation may require adjustments, such as adding back disallowable expenditure or deducting allowable items not shown as expenses in the accounts. The micro-entity accounting framework does not determine the company’s Corporation Tax liability on its own, and filing the CT600 is a separate exercise from paying any Corporation Tax that is due.

A CT600 is the formal name for the Company Tax Return that a UK company submits to HMRC. It reports the company's income, expenses and tax position for an accounting period, and it is normally accompanied by a Corporation Tax computation showing how the taxable profit has been calculated, together with the company's statutory accounts and any other information HMRC requires. The CT600 is filed with HMRC, not with Companies House, and it is the document that underpins the company's Corporation Tax position for that period.

A company usually needs to file a Company Tax Return where HMRC has issued a notice to deliver one, which is common for companies that are active for Corporation Tax purposes. Whether a particular company has to file depends on its circumstances — for example, whether it has been trading, received income, or been treated as dormant. Filing obligations can also change if a company starts or stops trading, so it is worth checking your position rather than assuming that nothing is due. We can look at your situation and confirm what is required.

Yes, and the two should not be confused. Statutory accounts are prepared under an accounting framework and filed with Companies House as part of the company's public filing obligations. A CT600 is a tax return submitted to HMRC. The accounts and the tax return are usually based on the same accounting records, but they serve different purposes and go to different bodies, and the figures reported for tax can differ from those shown in the accounts once tax adjustments have been made.

They are related but distinct. The CT600 is the return itself — the form submitted to HMRC with the relevant figures captured in the appropriate boxes. The Corporation Tax computation is the supporting calculation that starts with the accounting profit, applies the necessary tax adjustments, and arrives at the taxable profit and the resulting Corporation Tax position. In practice the computation is what supports the numbers entered on the CT600, so preparing one properly makes the other far more reliable.

A company that qualifies as a micro-entity still has Corporation Tax obligations where it is active for Corporation Tax purposes, and it may therefore need to file a Company Tax Return with HMRC just like any other company. Micro-entity status is about the accounting framework and the way statutory accounts are prepared and filed with Companies House; it is not a tax exemption and it does not create a separate, simplified tax return. Whether any Corporation Tax is actually payable depends on the company's taxable position for the period, which is not the same question as whether a return needs to be filed.

The starting point is normally the profit shown in the company's accounts, but that figure usually needs adjusting before it becomes taxable profit. Adjustments can include adding back expenditure that is not allowable for tax, such as certain entertaining costs, and deducting items that are allowable for tax but were not treated as expenses in the accounts, such as qualifying capital allowances. Other differences, including timing differences and items treated differently for tax, may also need to be considered. The result of those adjustments is the taxable profit on which the Corporation Tax position is based, which is why the computation matters as much as the accounts themselves.

No. Filing a CT600 and paying Corporation Tax are two separate obligations with their own processes and, in many cases, their own timing. Submitting the Company Tax Return tells HMRC what the company's position is; it does not by itself settle any liability. A company may need to make payments separately, and the amounts and dates involved depend on the company's circumstances. Filing on time is still important, but it should not be treated as a substitute for handling payment arrangements.

We normally need the company's accounting records and finalised accounts for the period, details of income and expenditure, records of any assets purchased that may qualify for capital allowances, information about other income or deductions, and details of any earlier tax losses being carried forward. We also need basic company information such as the company registration number, the accounting period dates, and confirmation of any related filings. If your records are incomplete or not yet reconciled, we can talk you through what needs tidying up first before the return is prepared and submitted.
