He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

Which Companies Need Confirmation Statement Filing?
If you run a company registered in the UK, the chances are you need to file a confirmation statement — and being dormant or not trading does not normally remove that requirement. The confirmation statement exists to confirm that the details Companies House holds about your company are correct, and it is filed separately from your annual accounts and your Corporation Tax Return.
- Active companies that are trading normally and have changes to report
- Dormant companies that are not currently trading or receiving income
- Non-trading companies that are still on the Companies House register
- Companies whose directors, shareholders, share capital or registered office details have changed
- Single-director and owner-managed companies based in Southend On Sea and across the UK
- Companies that have already filed accounts but still need to confirm their register information

What Is a Confirmation Statement and What Does It Do?
A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. It is not a financial document, and it does not replace your annual accounts or your Corporation Tax Return — it is a separate statutory filing with its own purpose and its own timetable.
- Registered office address and company name details
- Directors, company secretary (where applicable) and their particulars
- Shareholders, share capital and the statement of capital
- People with significant control (PSC) information
- Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes describing what the company does
- Confirmation that the information on the register is correct, or details of what has changed
- Separate notification to Companies House where certain changes must be reported on their own forms rather than waiting for the confirmation statement

─── FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
Common questions about our confirmation statement filing service, deadlines and what Companies House requires.
A confirmation statement is a filing made to Companies House that confirms the information held about your company is accurate and up to date as at the confirmation date. It covers things such as your registered office address, directors, shareholders, share capital, people with significant control and SIC codes. It is not a financial statement and it does not report profit, tax or turnover.
Any company registered in the UK — including companies based in Southend On Sea — is generally required to file a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. This applies whether the company is actively trading, dormant or simply not trading at the moment. There are limited circumstances in which a filing may not be required, so if you are unsure of your position it is worth checking your company's specific situation.
Most companies must file at least once every 12 months, measured across what Companies House calls a review period. That review period usually runs from the date of your last confirmation statement, or from incorporation for a brand new company. You can also file more than once during a review period if your information changes, and filing early generally sets a new review period from that filing date.
You are confirming that the register is correct, so it is worth reviewing your registered office address, directors and company secretary details, shareholders and share capital, people with significant control, and your SIC codes. If something has changed, some updates must be reported to Companies House separately using the relevant form rather than being left until the confirmation statement is filed.
In most cases, yes. Being dormant or not trading does not normally remove the requirement to file a confirmation statement, because the filing is about confirming company information rather than reporting financial activity. If your company is dormant, you still need to keep the register details accurate and file on time.
Annual accounts are the financial statements prepared for your accounting period and filed with Companies House, showing your company's financial position. A confirmation statement is not financial at all — it simply confirms the company information Companies House holds. The two have separate deadlines and separate purposes, so filing one does not satisfy the other.
A Corporation Tax Return (often called a CT600) is submitted to HMRC and reports your company's taxable profits and the tax due. A confirmation statement is submitted to Companies House only and contains no tax information. They are entirely separate filings with different recipients, different content and different deadlines.
Failing to file is a breach of your company's statutory obligations. Companies House can take action against the company and its directors, which may include financial penalties, prosecution, or steps to strike the company off the register. Once a company is struck off, its assets can pass to the Crown, so it is far better to file on time or to address an overdue filing as soon as possible.
We start by reviewing the information currently held at Companies House for your company, then confirm with you what has changed and what needs updating. Where a change has to be reported separately, we can help with that too. We then prepare and submit your confirmation statement and let you know once it has been filed, so you have a clear record of what was sent and when.
Get in touch and tell us a little about your company — your company name and number are a good starting point, along with anything you know has changed recently. We will review your position, explain what needs to be filed and when, and take it from there. If you are unsure whether your details are up to date, we can check as part of the process.
