First Year Accounts for Limited Company in Charfield, Prepared and Filed with Professional Support

A company’s first set of statutory accounts is rarely just a formality. If you have recently incorporated a limited company in Charfield, Micro Entity Accounts can prepare your First Year Accounts for Limited Company, check the accounting records behind them and file the accounts with Companies House where required. We begin by confirming your accounting reference date and the period the accounts must cover, then work through the figures you hold — bank transactions, sales and income, business expenses, purchase invoices, asset purchases, director transactions, loans and share capital information. Where the company also has Corporation Tax obligations, any CT600 submission to HMRC is dealt with as a separate compliance matter, because Companies House accounts filing and HMRC filing have different purposes and destinations. Transparent fees, plain-English explanations and a director-friendly process from start to finish.

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

Your first filing timeline

Incorporation

Your first filing timeline depends on your company's incorporation date and accounting reference date.

Accounting reference date

Set by default to the last day of the month of incorporation, one year on.

First accounts due

Normally 21 months after incorporation at Companies House.

First CT600 due

12 months after the end of the accounting period, with tax due earlier.

What Are First Year Accounts for a Micro Company?

First year accounts are the first set of annual statutory accounts a limited company prepares after incorporation. They cover the company’s initial accounting period, which normally begins on the incorporation date and runs to its first accounting reference date. That period can be longer or shorter than a standard twelve-month year, which is one reason first-year accounts are not simply a repeat of the accounts a company will prepare in later years. Even a company with limited activity, or one that has not yet started trading, may still have a statutory reporting position to consider, and the position depends on the company’s own circumstances rather than any general assumption. The accounts themselves generally include a balance sheet, and a profit and loss account where applicable, together with the supporting notes and statements required by the applicable reporting framework. Directors remain responsible for ensuring the company meets its obligations, including keeping adequate accounting records and delivering accounts to Companies House where required. Filing the accounts does not mean Companies House reviews or approves their content, and it does not settle the company’s other compliance duties. Some newly incorporated companies in Charfield may qualify for the micro-entity framework, which is a simplified reporting regime set out under FRS 105 and available to entities that meet the applicable eligibility conditions for the relevant accounting period. Others may fall within the small-company regime or need to report under a fuller framework. Eligibility is assessed separately for each company and each period — it is not automatic, and low turnover alone does not settle the question. It also helps to keep three separate obligations apart. First-year statutory accounts are prepared for the company and delivered to Companies House where required. A Corporation Tax Return, such as a CT600, is submitted to HMRC where the company has Corporation Tax obligations, and the company’s first Corporation Tax accounting period may not match its statutory accounts period exactly. A confirmation statement is a further, separate filing that keeps the company’s public information up to date. Completing one does not complete the others.

Does Your New Company Qualify as a Micro Entity?

Even in your first period, your company must meet the Companies House size criteria to file micro-entity accounts. A company generally needs to meet at least two of these three conditions.

Business Turnover

Annual Turnover of £1 Million or less. (£632,000 previously)

Balance Sheet

Balance sheet total of £500,000 or less.(£316,000 previously)

Company Size

On an average 10 or less employees

─── WHO WE HELP

First Year Accounts Support for Micro Companies Across the UK

Newly Incorporated Companies

Companies formed in the last 12 to 18 months filing their very first set of accounts.

First-Time Directors

Directors who have never filed statutory accounts and want the process explained clearly.

Newly Incorporated Limited Companies

Small companies with limited first-year trading, including those that stayed dormant part of the period.

Get Your First Set of Statutory Accounts Right the First Time

The first accounts period can be the hardest one to get right, because the company is new, the accounting period may be an unusual length and it is not always obvious which reporting framework applies. Micro Entity Accounts can help directors of newly incorporated companies work through that uncertainty — reviewing the records you have, identifying what is still missing, preparing the statutory accounts and supporting the Companies House filing where required. If your company also has Corporation Tax responsibilities, we can explain how those sit alongside the accounts as a separate HMRC matter. Whether your business has just started trading, has had a quiet first period or is still finding its feet in Charfield, getting professional help at this stage gives you a clear starting point.

They are the company's first set of annual statutory accounts, covering the initial accounting period from incorporation to the first accounting reference date. They are usually made up of a balance sheet, a profit and loss account where applicable, notes and the statements required by the reporting framework the company uses. They are prepared for the company itself and delivered to Companies House where required.

The filing date depends on the company's incorporation date, its accounting reference date and the rules that apply to a first accounting period. First-year deadlines are often calculated differently from later years, so the only reliable approach is to check the company's own Companies House record rather than assume a standard twelve-month cycle. We confirm the applicable date for each company we act for and work towards it.

It varies with the company's activity. Typically we would ask for bank statements and transaction listings, sales and income records, business expense receipts and purchase invoices, details of any assets bought, director loan movements, share capital information and any loan or finance agreements. Where the company runs payroll or is VAT registered, those records are relevant too. A new company with very little activity will need far less, and we tell you exactly what applies in your case.

In most cases yes, unless a specific exemption applies to the company's circumstances. Incorporating a limited company brings statutory filing obligations with it, and those obligations exist whether or not the company has started trading or generated income. If a company has had no significant accounting transactions, its reporting position still needs to be looked at properly rather than assumed to be dormant.

No. Statutory accounts are prepared for the company and filed at Companies House where required, while a CT600 is a Corporation Tax Return submitted to HMRC where the company has Corporation Tax obligations. Information from the accounts often feeds into the tax position, but the two filings are separate, go to different bodies and are not interchangeable. Filing one does not complete the other.

No, they are different filings. A confirmation statement keeps the company's details at Companies House up to date, such as directors, registered office and share information, and it may be required even in a year when the company has little activity. Submitting first-year accounts does not remove the need to check whether a confirmation statement is due.

Possibly, but not automatically. The micro-entity framework under FRS 105 is available to entities that meet the applicable eligibility conditions for the accounting period in question. Some new companies qualify, some fall within the small-company regime and others need a fuller framework. A company with low turnover is not necessarily eligible, and eligibility should be assessed on its own facts before the accounts are prepared.

Delivering accounts after the applicable deadline can lead to consequences from Companies House, and the outcome depends on the circumstances and how late the filing is. Paying any penalty does not remove the requirement to file the outstanding accounts. If accounts have already been missed, the priority is to get them prepared and delivered, and to look at whether an appeal is appropriate under the applicable rules for companies in Charfield.
