I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

When Are Dormant Company Accounts Relevant for Companies in Morley?

Dormant company accounts may be appropriate where a company has no significant accounting transactions during the relevant period. That could apply to businesses that have not yet started trading, have stopped trading, or are kept for future use, as well as some holding companies. However, a company is not automatically dormant simply because it has no turnover or employees. Dormancy is assessed under Companies House rules, and the company’s own circumstances will determine whether it can prepare dormant accounts. Even if basic accounts are not required, most dormant companies still need to file annual accounts and a confirmation statement at Companies House. HMRC also has a separate test for Corporation Tax dormancy, so we always check whether the company needs to file Corporation Tax returns as well.

A Company May Be Dormant If:

It has been incorporated but has not started trading.

Trading has stopped and the company has no relevant ongoing activity.

Its only transactions are those that Companies House disregards when determining dormancy.

It is being retained for a future business purpose, subject to its actual activities and transactions.

─── How It Works

How The Filing Works

01

Send us your company details

Give us your company number and accounting reference date. That is usually everything we need to begin.

02

We confirm dormant status

We review the period against the Companies Act definition of dormancy and flag any transaction that would rule it out.

03

You approve the accounts

We prepare the dormant accounts and send them for a director's approval by email. No paperwork or postage.

04

We file and confirm

Your accounts go to Companies House and HMRC is notified. You receive the filed copies and acceptance confirmation.

Dormant company accounts are annual accounts prepared for a company that is dormant for Companies House purposes. They must be filed with Companies House where required. Dormant status does not mean a company stops filing accounts – it simply means the accounts may be prepared on a simplified basis if the company meets the relevant conditions.

Yes, generally. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes still needs to prepare and file annual accounts unless it qualifies for a specific exemption. The accounts must be filed by the applicable statutory deadline, and late filing can result in penalties.

Some dormant companies may qualify as micro-entities and therefore be able to use the micro-entity accounting framework. However, dormancy and micro-entity status are not the same. Eligibility depends on the company's size, legal structure and the relevant Companies House rules. We can help you determine which framework applies to your company.

Companies House dormancy affects the accounts filing requirements, but it does not remove the obligation to file accounts. HMRC's dormancy test is about Corporation Tax. A company that is dormant for Corporation Tax purposes may need to notify HMRC and may not be required to file Corporation Tax returns once HMRC confirms this. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not automatically tell HMRC that the company is dormant.

Yes. A confirmation statement is a separate filing with Companies House. Even a dormant company must keep its registered details up to date and submit a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. Filing dormant accounts does not replace the confirmation statement.

Companies House can issue a late-filing penalty if the required accounts are not submitted by the statutory deadline. Dormant status does not automatically protect a company from penalties. If you have missed a deadline, we can help prepare and file the outstanding accounts and consider whether a penalty appeal may be possible based on your circumstances.

Yes. If your company has missed previous filing deadlines, Micro Entity Accounts can help you prepare the necessary dormant company accounts and file them with Companies House. We cannot guarantee a specific outcome, but we can review your situation, help you understand your obligations and assist you in taking the right steps to get your filing history up to date.
