I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

When Dormant Company Accounts May Be Appropriate in Louth

A company may be treated as dormant for Companies House purposes if it has no significant accounting transactions during the period. This can include companies that have not yet started trading, have stopped trading, or are held for activities such as holding property or other assets. However, dormancy is not based on simply having no sales: it depends on the company’s circumstances and the relevant accounting and Companies House rules. Even a company that is dormant for Companies House is usually still required to file annual accounts and a confirmation statement unless a separate exemption applies. In addition, dormancy for Companies House is not the same as dormancy for Corporation Tax with HMRC. Our team can help you identify which status applies and what filings your company in Louth actually needs to complete.

A Company May Be Dormant If:

It has been incorporated but has not started trading.

Trading has stopped and the company has no relevant ongoing activity.

Its only transactions are those that Companies House disregards when determining dormancy.

It is being retained for a future business purpose, subject to its actual activities and transactions.

─── How It Works

How The Filing Works

01

Send us your company details

Give us your company number and accounting reference date. That is usually everything we need to begin.

02

We confirm dormant status

We review the period against the Companies Act definition of dormancy and flag any transaction that would rule it out.

03

You approve the accounts

We prepare the dormant accounts and send them for a director's approval by email. No paperwork or postage.

04

We file and confirm

Your accounts go to Companies House and HMRC is notified. You receive the filed copies and acceptance confirmation.

Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts prepared for a company that is dormant for accounting purposes during a particular period. They are filed with Companies House where required and are separate from any Corporation Tax obligations with HMRC. Although the company is dormant, the accounts must still meet the applicable Companies House filing requirements and show, among other things, that no significant accounting transactions took place during the period.

Yes, in most cases. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes is normally still required to deliver annual accounts to Companies House unless a specific exemption applies. Dormancy does not automatically remove the obligation to file accounts. The form and content of those accounts will depend on your company's situation and eligibility. We can help you determine exactly what is needed.

These are separate concepts. Companies House dormancy relates to whether the company has significant accounting transactions for annual accounts purposes. HMRC dormancy relates to Corporation Tax and whether the company should remain in the Corporation Tax regime. A company may be dormant for Companies House but still have an obligation to file Corporation Tax Returns with HMRC, or it may be dormant for both once HMRC has been notified and accepted the position. For example, a company in Louth may be dormant for Companies House yet still need to file Corporation Tax Returns until HMRC accepts that it is dormant for Corporation Tax. It is important to treat the two regimes separately and seek advice based on your company's specific position.

Yes, a confirmation statement is separate from the annual accounts. Dormant companies are generally still required to file a confirmation statement with Companies House at least once every 12 months to confirm the company's registered details are correct. Filing dormant company accounts does not remove the need to file a confirmation statement.

Some dormant companies may be eligible to use the simplified micro-entity reporting framework, but this is not automatic. Eligibility depends on factors such as turnover, balance sheet total and number of employees, as well as the company's legal structure. Dormancy and micro-entity status are separate tests, so it is important to review your circumstances. We can advise on the appropriate reporting framework for your company.

Typically we need the company's registered name and number, registered office address, director details, share capital information and the end date of the accounting period. If any transactions have occurred, we will ask about those to confirm the correct status. We guide clients through each step so you know exactly what to provide.

Yes. If your company in Louth has missed filing its accounts, we can prepare and deliver the outstanding dormant company accounts to Companies House. Acting quickly is important because late-filing penalties can apply. We cannot guarantee a particular outcome, but we can review your circumstances and assist you in restoring your company's filing position.
