I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

When Can a Company in Leigh File Dormant Company Accounts?

A company may be able to file dormant company accounts if it has had no significant accounting transactions during the relevant accounting period. This could apply to companies that have not yet started trading, have ceased trading, or are kept for future use. Dormancy is not an automatic status: it depends on the company’s own circumstances and the governing provisions. In particular, a company is not dormant merely because it has no sales or has never traded. It is also important to distinguish between dormancy for Companies House purposes and dormancy for HMRC Corporation Tax purposes. Even a dormant company may need to file annual accounts and confirmation statements, and HMRC may take a different view for Corporation Tax. We can help you establish whether dormant company accounts are required and what steps you need to take.

A Company May Be Dormant If:

It has been incorporated but has not started trading.

Trading has stopped and the company has no relevant ongoing activity.

Its only transactions are those that Companies House disregards when determining dormancy.

It is being retained for a future business purpose, subject to its actual activities and transactions.

─── How It Works

How The Filing Works

01

Send us your company details

Give us your company number and accounting reference date. That is usually everything we need to begin.

02

We confirm dormant status

We review the period against the Companies Act definition of dormancy and flag any transaction that would rule it out.

03

You approve the accounts

We prepare the dormant accounts and send them for a director's approval by email. No paperwork or postage.

04

We file and confirm

Your accounts go to Companies House and HMRC is notified. You receive the filed copies and acceptance confirmation.

Dormant company accounts are the annual accounts a limited company prepares when it is dormant for accounting purposes. They summarise the company's position and are filed with Companies House to satisfy the annual accounts requirement. Dormant accounts do not mean no accounts are needed; a company may still have to prepare and file them unless a specific exemption applies. At Micro Entity Accounts we prepare dormant company accounts for eligible companies in Leigh.

Generally, yes. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes still has to file its annual accounts with Companies House unless a specific exemption applies. Dormant status does not remove the legal requirement to file. The format of the accounts may be simpler, but the filing obligation remains. We can help you file your dormant company accounts correctly.

Some dormant companies may qualify for the micro-entity reporting framework, but not all dormant companies are micro-entities. Eligibility depends on the company's size, legal structure and accounting period. If a dormant company qualifies, we can prepare dormant company accounts using the applicable micro-entity framework. If not, the accounts must meet other reporting requirements.

They are different. Being dormant for Companies House concerns the company's accounting transactions and its annual reporting obligations. Being dormant for Corporation Tax concerns whether the company has any activity for HMRC purposes. A company may be dormant for Companies House but still need to deal with HMRC or file a Corporation Tax Return. We can explain how the tests apply and help you understand both positions.

Yes. A confirmation statement is separate from dormant company accounts and is usually still required even when a company is dormant. It confirms that the information held by Companies House is correct and up to date. Filing dormant company accounts does not replace this obligation. We can help you manage your Companies House compliance.

Not necessarily. HMRC's treatment of a dormant company depends on its Corporation Tax position. If HMRC has agreed that the company is dormant for Corporation Tax purposes, there may be no requirement to file further Corporation Tax Returns, but the company should notify HMRC to confirm its status. A company can be dormant for Companies House but still need to deal with Corporation Tax. We can help you communicate with HMRC and understand what applies.

Late filing of dormant company accounts can lead to late-filing penalties from Companies House. Dormant status does not automatically protect a company from these consequences. If the accounts are already overdue, it is important to file them as soon as possible. Paying a penalty does not remove the need to file the outstanding accounts. We can assist in preparing the overdue dormant company accounts and discuss whether an appeal may be appropriate, depending on the circumstances.
