I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

When Can You File Dormant Company Accounts in Greenford?

When a company has not had any significant accounting transactions during a particular accounting period, it may be considered dormant for Companies House purposes and may be eligible to file dormant company accounts. However, dormancy is not solely determined by whether the company has made sales or is currently trading. Companies that have stopped trading, have not yet started trading, or are retained as holding companies or SPVs might be dormant, but the rules depend on the specific circumstances. It is also important to understand that being dormant for Companies House does not necessarily mean the company is dormant for HMRC’s Corporation Tax purposes. A company can have different positions with each authority. Even where a company is dormant for accounting purposes, it may still need to file annual accounts and a confirmation statement with Companies House unless an exemption applies. We can review your company’s situation in Greenford and help you determine whether dormant accounts are appropriate and what filings need to be made.

A Company May Be Dormant If:

It has been incorporated but has not started trading.

Trading has stopped and the company has no relevant ongoing activity.

Its only transactions are those that Companies House disregards when determining dormancy.

It is being retained for a future business purpose, subject to its actual activities and transactions.

─── How It Works

How The Filing Works

01

Send us your company details

Give us your company number and accounting reference date. That is usually everything we need to begin.

02

We confirm dormant status

We review the period against the Companies Act definition of dormancy and flag any transaction that would rule it out.

03

You approve the accounts

We prepare the dormant accounts and send them for a director's approval by email. No paperwork or postage.

04

We file and confirm

Your accounts go to Companies House and HMRC is notified. You receive the filed copies and acceptance confirmation.

Dormant company accounts are annual accounts prepared for a company that is dormant for accounting purposes under the Companies Act rules. They are filed with Companies House where required and are typically simpler than full statutory accounts. A company can be dormant if it has no significant accounting transactions during the period, but the exact definition depends on the circumstances and relevant regulations.

Yes, in most cases. Dormant company accounts still need to be filed with Companies House unless a specific exemption applies. Dormancy does not remove the filing obligation. If your company is dormant, it is important to check whether it is entitled to file dormant accounts for the relevant accounting period and to submit them by the statutory deadline.

Some dormant companies may qualify as micro-entities and may therefore be able to use the micro-entity reporting framework, but this depends on the company's eligibility, including its size and accounting period. Micro-entity status is not the same as dormancy. Our accountants can review your company's position in Greenford to determine whether the micro-entity framework is available.

Companies House and HMRC apply their own separate rules. A company may be dormant for Companies House purposes but still be required to deal with HMRC and potentially file Corporation Tax Returns. Equally, a company that is dormant for Corporation Tax purposes may need to notify HMRC and may not need to file future Corporation Tax Returns once HMRC confirms this. It is important not to assume that filing dormant accounts with Companies House automatically changes the company's Corporation Tax position with HMRC.

Yes. A confirmation statement is separate from dormant company accounts. Even if a company is dormant, it normally needs to keep its Companies House information up to date and submit a confirmation statement at least once every 12 months. Filing dormant accounts does not replace the confirmation statement requirement.

If required dormant company accounts are not filed by the applicable deadline, the company may be subject to late-filing penalties from Companies House. Dormant status does not automatically protect a company from these consequences. The penalty amount depends on how late the accounts are filed and the company's circumstances. Paying a penalty does not remove the need to file the outstanding accounts. We can help you bring overdue filings up to date and discuss your options.

Yes. If your company in Greenford has missed Companies House filing deadlines for accounts, we can assist in preparing and filing the outstanding dormant company accounts. We can also review your company's current compliance position and advise on the steps needed to bring filings up to date, including confirmation statement and Corporation Tax matters where relevant. We cannot guarantee that penalties will be waived, but we can help you resolve the arrears.
