I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

When Can a Company File Dormant Accounts in Clifton Moor?

A company in Clifton Moor may be able to file dormant accounts when it is dormant for accounting purposes under the Companies Act. This generally means the company has had no significant accounting transactions during the accounting period and has not been required to file certain other returns. However, dormancy is not automatic simply because a company has no sales or has stopped trading. The company must meet the relevant conditions, and even then it still has filing obligations. Dormant accounts normally still have to be filed with Companies House, and a confirmation statement may be required separately. It is also important to understand that being dormant for Companies House purposes is not the same as being dormant for Corporation Tax with HMRC. You may need to notify HMRC separately if you believe the company should stop filing Corporation Tax Returns. We can review your circumstances and help you determine what applies to your company.

A Company May Be Dormant If:

It has been incorporated but has not started trading.

Trading has stopped and the company has no relevant ongoing activity.

Its only transactions are those that Companies House disregards when determining dormancy.

It is being retained for a future business purpose, subject to its actual activities and transactions.

─── How It Works

How The Filing Works

01

Send us your company details

Give us your company number and accounting reference date. That is usually everything we need to begin.

02

We confirm dormant status

We review the period against the Companies Act definition of dormancy and flag any transaction that would rule it out.

03

You approve the accounts

We prepare the dormant accounts and send them for a director's approval by email. No paperwork or postage.

04

We file and confirm

Your accounts go to Companies House and HMRC is notified. You receive the filed copies and acceptance confirmation.

Dormant company accounts are a set of annual accounts prepared for a company that is dormant for accounting purposes under the Companies Act. They show that the company has had no significant accounting transactions in the period and are filed with Companies House to meet the company's statutory filing obligation, provided the company is not exempt.

Yes, in most cases. A dormant company is generally still required to file dormant accounts with Companies House each year unless a specific exemption applies. Being dormant does not remove the requirement to file annual accounts. The company may also need to submit confirmation statements and, depending on its Corporation Tax position, deal with HMRC separately.

A dormant company may qualify as a micro-entity if it meets the relevant size criteria and is not excluded under the Companies Act. If it qualifies, it may be able to use the micro-entity reporting framework or FRS 105. However, not every dormant company is automatically a micro-entity, and eligibility depends on the company's circumstances. We can help you determine the appropriate reporting framework for your company.

Companies House and HMRC have separate definitions and rules. A company may be dormant for Companies House purposes if it has had no significant accounting transactions, but HMRC may still expect Corporation Tax Returns unless the company has been formally notified and accepted as dormant for Corporation Tax. It is important to notify HMRC if applicable and to keep records with both organisations up to date.

Yes. A confirmation statement is separate from dormant accounts. Filing dormant accounts does not replace the requirement to submit a confirmation statement. A dormant company must still keep its registered information up to date and file a confirmation statement at least once every twelve months, unless it is exempt or has been struck off.

Companies House may impose late-filing penalties if the required dormant accounts are not submitted by the applicable deadline. The amount of any penalty depends on how late the accounts are filed and the company's circumstances. Dormant status does not automatically protect a company from penalties. If you have missed a deadline, we can help you file the outstanding accounts and explain the options available, although we cannot guarantee that a penalty will be cancelled.

To prepare dormant company accounts, we generally need the company's details, its confirmation statement date, any previous accounts filed, and confirmation that there have been no significant accounting transactions. If the company has received a penalty notice or a reminder from Companies House, that can also help us understand what is outstanding. We will guide you through the information required and prepare the accounts for your approval before filing.

Yes. A company that has been incorporated but has never started trading may be dormant and may be eligible to file dormant accounts. However, it still needs to meet the relevant dormancy conditions and must file any required returns. If the company is also dormant for Corporation Tax purposes, it may need to notify HMRC. We can assist with the preparation and filing of dormant accounts and advise on the related obligations.
