CT600 Tax Return Filing in Ilford — Prepare and Submit Your Company Tax Return to HMRC

CT600 Tax Return Filing in Ilford is about making sure your company’s Corporation Tax position is worked out properly and reported to HMRC accurately. The CT600 is the Company Tax Return — the document that sets out your company’s income, allowable deductions, tax adjustments and resulting Corporation Tax position for an accounting period. It is not the same thing as the statutory accounts you file with Companies House, and it is not a Confirmation Statement or a VAT Return. Professional CT600 Tax Return Filing takes your bookkeeping and year-end figures, applies the tax adjustments needed to move from accounting profit to taxable profit, prepares the Corporation Tax computation, and submits the Company Tax Return to HMRC through the correct channel. For directors in Ilford and the surrounding area, that means less time spent wrestling with HMRC’s online filing system, fewer unexplained gaps in the numbers, and a much clearer picture of what is being reported and why. We work with limited companies of all sizes, including small and micro-entity companies, and we explain every stage in plain English so you can review the figures with confidence before they are filed.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

What Does a CT600 Mean for a Micro-Entity Company in Ilford?

There is no separate official “micro-entity CT600” form. A micro-entity company that trades through a limited company still uses the same CT600 Company Tax Return as any other company when it is required to file one with HMRC. What differs for a micro-entity is usually the accounting side: the statutory accounts may be prepared under a simplified framework such as FRS 105, which affects how the accounts look rather than whether a Company Tax Return is needed. A company operating as a micro-entity may still have Corporation Tax obligations, and where HMRC requires a return for the accounting period, a CT600 must be prepared and submitted. The CT600 is separate from the statutory accounts filed with Companies House — they are two different documents, sent to two different organisations, for two different purposes. That said, the two are related: the figures in the accounts are normally the starting point for the Corporation Tax calculation, and the taxable profit reported on the CT600 can differ from the accounting profit shown in the accounts because the tax computation may require adjustments, such as disallowable expenses or capital allowances. Whether Corporation Tax is actually payable depends on the company’s own circumstances and taxable position, and filing the CT600 is a separate obligation from paying any Corporation Tax that is due.

A CT600 is the form used to file a Company Tax Return with HMRC. It reports a company's income, deductions, tax adjustments and the resulting Corporation Tax position for a given accounting period. In practice, the CT600 is supported by a Corporation Tax computation and, in most cases, by a copy of the statutory accounts, which together give HMRC the detail behind the figures summarised on the return. The CT600 is a Corporation Tax document submitted to HMRC — it is not filed with Companies House.

No. Statutory accounts are prepared for the company's members and filed at Companies House under the Companies Act requirements, while the CT600 is a tax return submitted to HMRC. They serve different audiences and follow different rules, even though the accounting figures from your year-end accounts usually form the starting point for the Corporation Tax calculation. It is entirely normal for one document to be finalised before the other, and it is possible for a company to have accounts filed at Companies House while its Company Tax Return is still being prepared.

A company operating as a micro-entity can still have Corporation Tax obligations, and where HMRC requires a Company Tax Return for the accounting period, a CT600 must be prepared and filed. The size of the company or the accounting framework it uses for its statutory accounts does not remove that requirement in itself. Equally, not every micro-entity will owe Corporation Tax — whether tax is actually payable depends on the company's taxable position and its own circumstances. Filing the return and paying any tax due are separate matters.

Yes, and the two work together. The Corporation Tax computation is the working paper that starts with your accounting profit and applies the necessary tax adjustments, such as adding back disallowable expenses or claiming capital allowances, to arrive at taxable profit and the Corporation Tax figure. The CT600 is the return that reports the outcome to HMRC. You cannot sensibly complete an accurate CT600 without a computation behind it, which is why we prepare the computation first and then use it to support the figures entered on the return.

Typically we need your year-end accounts or a trial balance for the accounting period, your bookkeeping records and bank statements, details of fixed asset purchases and sales, expense breakdowns so we can identify anything that is not allowable for tax, details of any other income, and information about losses brought forward or carried back. If your company has loans to or from directors, or has paid dividends, that information is helpful too. Where records are incomplete, we will tell you what is missing rather than guessing at the figures.

The tax calculation normally begins with the accounting profit shown in your accounts and then adjusts it. Common adjustments include adding back expenditure that is not allowable for tax purposes and deducting items that are allowable but were not charged as expenses in the accounts, such as capital allowances. The result is the taxable profit used to work out the Corporation Tax position. This is why taxable profit often differs from accounting profit, and why two companies with identical accounting profits can end up with different tax outcomes.

No — they are separate obligations. Filing the CT600 tells HMRC what the company's Corporation Tax position is for the period; payment is the separate act of settling any liability that arises. A company can be required to file a Company Tax Return even where no Corporation Tax is payable, for example because the taxable profit falls below the level at which tax becomes due or because losses are available. Because the two are distinct, it is worth keeping an eye on both the filing date and the payment date, which are set out in HMRC's guidance and depend on your company's circumstances and accounting period.

Yes. A company can appoint an agent to prepare and file its Company Tax Return with HMRC, and we handle that process for directors in Ilford as part of our CT600 Tax Return Filing service. We gather the figures, prepare the Corporation Tax computation, review the tax adjustments with you, and submit the CT600 electronically. Filing deadlines and any penalties for late submission are determined by HMRC's rules and depend on the company's accounting period, so we make sure the return is prepared in good time rather than relying on last-minute submission.
