I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

FAQs: Corporation Tax Returns For Micro Companies

A Corporation Tax Return, also referred to as a Company Tax Return, is the formal return a limited company submits to HMRC for an accounting period. It reports the company's income, chargeable gains and allowable deductions so that HMRC can establish the Corporation Tax position for that period. In most cases the return is submitted online in a set format, together with the supporting accounts and tax computations, and it generally needs to be filed for each accounting period in which the company is within the charge to Corporation Tax.

CT600 is the name of the form HMRC uses for the Company Tax Return. It acts as the main return document, with the company's figures entered into it and, where relevant, supplementary pages attached to cover particular types of income or activity. The CT600 is filed with HMRC and not with Companies House, so it sits alongside — rather than replaces — the company's other filing obligations. A CT600 also needs to be accompanied by the relevant statutory accounts and computations in the format HMRC expects.

No. There is no separate micro-entity CT600 and no distinct Corporation Tax regime for micro companies. A micro company that is within the charge to Corporation Tax generally deals with its liabilities through the same Corporation Tax Return process as any other company, although the figures and any supplementary pages will reflect its size and activities. Micro-entity status relates to the accounting framework used when preparing statutory accounts, and whether a company qualifies depends on the applicable criteria, the accounting period and the company's own circumstances.

Preparation commonly starts with a review of the company's financial information for the accounting period, including the accounting profit or loss shown in the records. From there, relevant tax adjustments are identified — for example expenditure that is not allowable for tax purposes, or reliefs and allowances that may be claimed — so that taxable profit can be determined. The Corporation Tax Return and supporting computations are then prepared for submission to HMRC. What is actually needed varies from company to company, and we regularly help directors in Woodford work through these steps for their accounting period.

Statutory accounts are prepared under an applicable accounting framework and are delivered to Companies House where required, while a Corporation Tax Return such as the CT600 is submitted to HMRC. The two documents serve different purposes and different audiences, and the figures in one do not simply carry across to the other. HMRC does not approve statutory accounts, and filing accounts with Companies House does not complete the company's CT600, just as filing a CT600 does not discharge the company's Companies House obligations. Both may need attention for the same accounting period.

The profit shown in statutory accounts is calculated using accounting rules, whereas taxable profit is calculated using Corporation Tax rules, and the two do not always match. Adjustments may be needed — for example to add back expenditure that is not deductible for tax purposes, or to account for capital allowances rather than depreciation. Once those adjustments have been considered, the resulting taxable profit is what feeds into the Corporation Tax Return. The precise adjustments depend on the company's transactions and circumstances.

Not necessarily. The deadline for submitting the Corporation Tax Return to HMRC and the deadline for paying any Corporation Tax due are separate, and they do not always fall on the same date. Both are measured from the end of the accounting period, so the exact dates depend on when that period ends. HMRC publishes current filing and payment deadlines, and we can help you work out which dates apply to your company's accounting period so nothing is missed.

That depends on the type of dormancy involved. Being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes is not the same as being dormant for Companies House purposes, and a company can be treated differently under each set of rules. A company that is dormant for Corporation Tax may, in some circumstances, not need to submit a return, and dormant status does not automatically remove all Companies House filing obligations. If a company has previously been told to file returns, or has received a notice to deliver, that position should be checked rather than assumed.
