We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

A Corporation Tax Return is the filing a limited company makes to HM Revenue & Customs to report its income, profits and gains for a particular accounting period, and to work out how much Corporation Tax is payable. It is submitted to HMRC, not to Companies House, although the figures are usually built from the same bookkeeping records and year-end accounts. For smaller companies the return tends to be relatively straightforward, but it still needs to reflect the company's actual position for that period.
CT600 is the name of the form HMRC uses for a Company Tax Return. It is normally completed and submitted online, either by a company director or by an accountant acting on the company's behalf with the necessary authority. The return sets out the company's details, the accounting period covered and figures such as turnover, trading profits and any adjustments that apply. Filing a CT600 is a separate exercise from filing accounts at Companies House, and one does not replace the other.
No. There is no separate micro-entity CT600. A company that meets the micro-entity criteria for accounting purposes still deals with Corporation Tax through the same Corporation Tax Return process as other companies, subject to its own circumstances. Micro-entity status relates to how the statutory accounts may be prepared and what is delivered to Companies House where required; it does not create a distinct Corporation Tax regime or a different return.
Preparation usually starts with a review of the company's financial information, including its bookkeeping records and draft accounts for the accounting period. From there, the accounting profit or loss is considered alongside any relevant tax adjustments so that taxable profit can be determined before the return is finalised and sent to HMRC. Depending on the company's circumstances, this can involve looking at items such as disallowable expenditure, capital allowances or reliefs that may be available. The objective is a return that properly reflects the company's position for that period.
Statutory accounts are the year-end accounts prepared for the company under company law, and they are delivered to Companies House where required. A Corporation Tax Return, such as a CT600, is a tax filing submitted to HMRC. The two serve different purposes and go to different bodies, so filing statutory accounts is not the same as filing a Company Tax Return, and completing one does not automatically complete the other. HMRC does not approve statutory accounts.
Accounting profit is calculated under accounting rules, while taxable profit is calculated under tax rules, and the two do not always match. Some costs that reduce accounting profit may not be allowable for Corporation Tax purposes, and certain allowances or reliefs may reduce taxable profit below the accounting figure. The adjustments required depend on the company's own transactions, which is why a CT600 cannot simply repeat the profit figure shown in the accounts.
Not always. The date by which the Corporation Tax Return must be submitted and the date by which the Corporation Tax itself must be paid can fall on different days, and both depend on the company's accounting period. Meeting one does not necessarily mean the other has been dealt with, which is why directors across Hornchurch often find it helpful to plan for both at the same time. We can help confirm which deadlines apply to your company and what needs attention ahead of them.
Being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes is not the same as being dormant for Companies House purposes, and the two positions can apply differently. Where HMRC treats a company as dormant, a Corporation Tax Return may not be required for that period, but Companies House obligations such as accounts or a confirmation statement can still apply. Dormant status is also not necessarily permanent, so if trading resumes or circumstances change, the position can change with it. It is worth checking the company's specific situation rather than assuming nothing needs to be filed anywhere.
