We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

A Corporation Tax Return is the return a limited company submits to HMRC to report its profits, gains and other relevant information for an accounting period, and to establish the Corporation Tax position for that period. In the UK it is normally filed electronically, with the CT600 form supported by computations and, in some cases, accounts information. Whether a return is required at all, and what it needs to contain, depends on the company's circumstances and the accounting period in question.
The CT600 is the form HMRC uses for a Company Tax Return. It records the company's details, the accounting period covered, figures taken from the accounts and the resulting tax calculation. It is submitted to HMRC rather than to Companies House, usually online and alongside supporting computations. A CT600 is therefore a Corporation Tax document, not a Companies House filing.
No. There is no separate micro-entity CT600 and no distinct Corporation Tax regime for micro companies. A micro company generally deals with its Corporation Tax through the same applicable return process as any other company, subject to its own circumstances. The micro-entity framework concerns how accounts may be prepared and filed under the small companies regime, and eligibility for it depends on the applicable criteria, the accounting period and the company's circumstances — it does not create a different kind of tax return.
Preparation typically begins with a review of the company's financial information for the accounting period, including the accounting profit or loss. From there, relevant tax adjustments are considered — disallowable expenditure, capital allowances and timing differences, for example — so that the taxable profit can be determined. The CT600, computations and supporting information are then prepared for submission to HMRC. The exact steps depend on the company's circumstances, the quality of its records and any reliefs or claims that may apply.
Statutory accounts are the annual accounts prepared for the company and delivered to Companies House where required, under the applicable small or micro-entity framework. A Corporation Tax Return, normally a CT600, is submitted to HMRC and deals with the company's Corporation Tax position. Filing one does not complete the other: preparing and submitting a CT600 does not automatically discharge the company's Companies House accounts, confirmation statement or other filing obligations. Companies House does not approve accounts in a professional or regulatory sense — filing simply delivers the document.
Statutory accounts are prepared under accounting standards, while taxable profit is calculated under Corporation Tax rules. The two can diverge because some expenses are not allowable for tax, certain items of income are treated differently, and the rules on capital allowances, provisions and timing can move profit between periods. That is why CT600 preparation often involves adjusting the accounting figure before the taxable profit is finalised.
Not necessarily. The deadline for submitting the Corporation Tax Return to HMRC and the deadline for paying any Corporation Tax due can fall on different dates, and payment commonly falls due before the return itself has to be filed. The exact dates depend on the company's accounting period and HMRC's requirements, so directors in Earlswood should confirm the specific deadlines that apply to their company rather than assuming the two dates coincide. It is also sensible to allow enough time to prepare accurate figures before the return deadline.
Being dormant for Corporation Tax purposes is not the same as being dormant for Companies House purposes, and the two are assessed on different tests. A company that HMRC accepts as dormant may not need to submit returns for a period, but that usually involves notifying HMRC and agreeing the position. Dormancy for Companies House purposes does not automatically remove other filing obligations, and it does not automatically mean a company must keep submitting Corporation Tax Returns indefinitely either. The right answer depends on the company's activity and HMRC's records, so it is worth confirming before assuming no return is needed.
