I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

FAQs: Corporation Tax Returns For Micro Companies

A Corporation Tax Return is the document a limited company uses to tell HMRC how much taxable profit it has made in an accounting period, and how much Corporation Tax is due on it. The return starts from the company's financial information — usually the profit or loss shown in its accounts — and then applies the tax rules that turn accounting profit into taxable profit. Once prepared, the return is submitted to HMRC. Filing a return is a separate exercise from preparing statutory accounts, even though the two are closely connected in practice.

A CT600 is the name HMRC gives to the Company Tax Return form itself. It is the formal template in which a company reports its income, allowable deductions, tax adjustments and tax liability, and it is submitted electronically to HMRC. Supporting calculations and, in many cases, a copy of the statutory accounts are filed alongside it. In everyday conversation, accountants often use 'CT600' and 'Corporation Tax Return' interchangeably, although strictly speaking the CT600 is the form and the return is the submission as a whole.

No. Micro-entity status relates to the accounting framework a company may use when preparing its statutory accounts, not to Corporation Tax. A micro company deals with Corporation Tax through the same Corporation Tax Return process as any other company, subject to its own circumstances and figures. There is no separate 'micro-entity CT600'. Where micro-entity accounting rules apply, they can shape the figures that appear in the accounts, which in turn feed into the tax computation — but the return submitted to HMRC is the standard Company Tax Return.

Preparation generally involves reviewing the company's financial information for the accounting period, considering the accounting profit or loss, identifying the tax adjustments required, and arriving at a taxable profit figure. From there, the relevant calculations are put together and the Corporation Tax Return is prepared for submission to HMRC. Depending on the company's circumstances, that can include items such as depreciation added back, capital allowances claimed, disallowable expenses, and any reliefs or losses being used. Because the detail varies from company to company, the work is best looked at case by case rather than applied as a fixed template.

They are two different documents with two different audiences. Statutory accounts are prepared under the applicable accounting framework and delivered to Companies House where required. A Corporation Tax Return, normally in the form of a CT600, is submitted to HMRC. Statutory accounts are not sent to HMRC for approval, and HMRC does not approve them. Likewise, Companies House does not give professional or regulatory approval to accounts prepared by an accountant — filing them is a compliance step, not an endorsement. Submitting a CT600 also does not, by itself, complete a company's Companies House accounts, confirmation statement or any other filing obligation.

Accounting profit is calculated under accounting standards, while taxable profit is calculated under Corporation Tax rules, and the two do not always align. Common reasons for a difference include depreciation, which is usually added back and replaced with capital allowances, as well as client entertaining, some fines and penalties, and certain other costs that are not allowable for tax. There can also be adjustments for income that is treated differently for tax purposes. The result is that a company can show a modest accounting profit and still have a slightly different taxable profit, or even a loss position that needs to be handled carefully.

Not necessarily. HMRC sets a deadline for submitting the Corporation Tax Return, and a separate deadline for paying any Corporation Tax that is due. In many cases the payment date falls earlier than the filing date, which is why directors in Co. Fermanagh are often advised to look at both dates as soon as the accounting period ends rather than waiting until the return is ready. Because the exact dates depend on the accounting period and the company's circumstances, it is worth confirming the position for your own company rather than assuming the two fall together.

Dormancy for Corporation Tax purposes is not the same as dormancy for Companies House purposes, and the two can apply at different times or in different ways. A company that HMRC treats as dormant for Corporation Tax may not need to submit a Corporation Tax Return for a particular period, but that does not automatically remove its Companies House filing obligations, and it does not mean the position stays the same indefinitely. If a company starts trading again, or receives income, the position can change. It is worth reviewing dormant status alongside the accounts and confirmation statement rather than in isolation.
