I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I'm very pleased with the service I've received and truly appreciate his support. If you need help with your accounts or taxes, I would highly recommend Imran.Posted on Google![]()

Annual accounts are the statutory accounts that a company prepares for an accounting period, showing information about its financial position and performance over that period. They are prepared under the accounting framework that applies to the company and may include a balance sheet, a profit and loss account, notes and other required statements or information, depending on the company's size and reporting requirements. Annual Accounts Filing is the process of submitting those accounts to Companies House where the company is required to do so.
Most UK limited companies have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House, subject to the company's circumstances and any applicable exemptions. This can include micro-entities, dormant companies, one-director companies and other small companies. Because the requirements differ depending on company size, accounting period, dormant status, the applicable accounting framework and available exemptions, it is worth checking what applies to your particular company before assuming the same approach as another business.
The deadline depends on your company's accounting reference period and individual circumstances, so there is no single date that applies to every company. Private companies generally have a Companies House filing deadline calculated from the end of the relevant accounting period, but the exact date should always be checked for your company. It is sensible to confirm your deadline early, as it is separate from any HMRC Corporation Tax filing or payment date.
Annual accounts are generally filed with Companies House. This is a separate exercise from submitting a Company Tax Return to HMRC, even though information from the accounts may be used when preparing the company's Corporation Tax computation and CT600. Filing annual accounts with Companies House does not itself constitute filing a Corporation Tax Return with HMRC.
No. Annual accounts are the statutory accounts filed with Companies House, while a CT600 is the Company Tax Return submitted to HMRC. The two are prepared for different purposes and go to different bodies. Figures from the annual accounts often feed into the Corporation Tax computation and CT600, but filing your annual accounts does not mean you have filed a Company Tax Return.
No, they are separate compliance obligations. A confirmation statement confirms details such as the company's registered office, directors and shareholders, whereas annual accounts report the company's financial position and performance for the accounting period. Annual Accounts Filing focuses on the statutory accounts, and it should not be confused with the confirmation statement or with VAT Returns, payroll or Self Assessment.
Dormant companies can still have annual accounts filing responsibilities with Companies House, even where the company is dormant for Corporation Tax purposes. Being dormant for tax does not automatically remove the requirement to file annual accounts, and the position can vary depending on the company's circumstances and any applicable exemptions. We can review your situation and explain the dormant accounts route where it applies.
Micro-entities may qualify for the micro-entities regime and may prepare accounts using FRS 105 where that regime applies and is chosen. For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least two of three conditions: turnover of no more than £1 million, a balance sheet total of no more than £500,000, and an average number of employees of no more than 10, subject to the relevant rules and exclusions. Meeting those figures does not automatically confirm eligibility, so the rules should be checked for your company. If annual accounts are filed after the relevant Companies House deadline, late filing penalties can apply, which is why deadline tracking matters. Directors also remain responsible for ensuring accounts are properly prepared and filed on time, even when an accountant or filing service prepares and submits them.
