I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

When Are Dormant Company Accounts in Rhondda Cynon Taf Required?

A company is not automatically dormant simply because it has stopped trading, has not yet started trading, or has no active customers. Dormancy for Companies House purposes depends on whether the company has had significant accounting transactions during the period. A company may be considered dormant if it has no significant transactions, for example where it is a holding company, has been retained for future use, or has not begun its intended business activity. However, a dormant company generally still needs to file annual accounts with Companies House unless a specific exemption applies. It also remains responsible for submitting a confirmation statement and keeping its registered details up to date. It is also important to distinguish between dormancy for Companies House and dormancy for HMRC. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes may not automatically be dormant for Corporation Tax. If a company is dormant for Corporation Tax purposes, it may need to notify HMRC and may not need to file Corporation Tax Returns once HMRC has confirmed that a return is no longer required, subject to the applicable rules. Every company’s circumstances are different, and we can review your position to help you understand what obligations still apply.

A Company May Be Dormant If:

It has been incorporated but has not started trading.

Trading has stopped and the company has no relevant ongoing activity.

Its only transactions are those that Companies House disregards when determining dormancy.

It is being retained for a future business purpose, subject to its actual activities and transactions.

─── How It Works

How The Filing Works

01

Send us your company details

Give us your company number and accounting reference date. That is usually everything we need to begin.

02

We confirm dormant status

We review the period against the Companies Act definition of dormancy and flag any transaction that would rule it out.

03

You approve the accounts

We prepare the dormant accounts and send them for a director's approval by email. No paperwork or postage.

04

We file and confirm

Your accounts go to Companies House and HMRC is notified. You receive the filed copies and acceptance confirmation.

Dormant company accounts are statutory accounts prepared for a company that is dormant for accounting purposes. They are filed with Companies House and show that the company has had no significant accounting transactions during the period. They are not simply a blank return — the accounts must still satisfy the applicable Companies House requirements and be prepared in the correct format.

Yes, in most cases. A company that is dormant for Companies House purposes generally still has to file annual accounts with Companies House. Certain exemptions may apply depending on the company's circumstances, but dormancy on its own does not remove the filing obligation. Our team can confirm whether accounts are needed for your company and assist with preparing and filing them.

Some dormant companies may also qualify as micro-entities, which means they may be able to use the simplified micro-entity reporting framework. However, dormancy and micro-entity status are separate matters. Eligibility depends on the company's size, structure and accounting period. We can help determine which framework is appropriate for your dormant company.

Companies House and HMRC treat dormancy differently for their own purposes. A company can be dormant for Companies House because it has no significant accounting transactions, but HMRC's view depends on the company's Corporation Tax position. If a company is dormant for Corporation Tax, it may need to notify HMRC and may not need to file further Corporation Tax Returns once HMRC has confirmed that no return is required. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not automatically tell HMRC that the company is dormant.

Yes. A confirmation statement is separate from dormant company accounts and must be submitted to Companies House at least once every 12 months. Dormant status does not replace this requirement. The confirmation statement keeps Companies House informed of the company's directors, registered office and other details. We can support you with both accounts and confirmation statements.

Not necessarily. If HMRC has accepted that the company is dormant for Corporation Tax purposes and has confirmed that a return is no longer required, then the company may not need to file further CT600 returns. However, this is not automatic. The company may need to notify HMRC of its dormant status and the position depends on the specific circumstances. We can help you communicate with HMRC and understand what remains outstanding.

If a required dormant company account is filed after the applicable deadline, Companies House may issue a late-filing penalty. The penalty is not automatic in every case and the circumstances matter. Dormant status does not protect a company from late-filing consequences. If you have missed a filing deadline, we can review your situation and help you file the outstanding accounts as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee that a penalty will be reduced or removed, but we can give you clear guidance on what to do.
