I highly recommend Imran to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant. He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. He guided me through each step and helped rectify issues that had built up over time, making what felt like an overwhelming situation much more manageable. I had a positive experience with Accotax. The work was completed promptly, my tax return was successfully filed, and I received a refund of overpaid tax. I found the cooperation efficient and helpful. Special thanks to Muhammad Saifullah for his assistance.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.

When Can a Company File Dormant Accounts in Dursley Glos?

A company may be considered dormant for Companies House purposes if it has not entered into significant accounting transactions during the relevant accounting period. This can include companies that have not yet started trading, have stopped trading, or are being held for future use. However, dormancy is not simply about having no sales or no current activity. It depends on the company’s specific circumstances and the rules that apply to its accounts. Being dormant for Companies House does not automatically remove the obligation to file annual accounts, and a confirmation statement will generally still be required to keep the company’s records up to date. HMRC treats dormancy separately for Corporation Tax purposes, so a company that is dormant for Companies House may still have Corporation Tax obligations unless HMRC has confirmed that returns are no longer required. We can review your company’s position and help you determine the correct filing approach for dormant company accounts in Dursley Glos.

A Company May Be Dormant If:

It has been incorporated but has not started trading.

Trading has stopped and the company has no relevant ongoing activity.

Its only transactions are those that Companies House disregards when determining dormancy.

It is being retained for a future business purpose, subject to its actual activities and transactions.

─── How It Works

How The Filing Works

01

Send us your company details

Give us your company number and accounting reference date. That is usually everything we need to begin.

02

We confirm dormant status

We review the period against the Companies Act definition of dormancy and flag any transaction that would rule it out.

03

You approve the accounts

We prepare the dormant accounts and send them for a director's approval by email. No paperwork or postage.

04

We file and confirm

Your accounts go to Companies House and HMRC is notified. You receive the filed copies and acceptance confirmation.

Dormant Company Accounts FAQs

Still unsure where you stand? Reach out to our UK team at info@microentityaccounts.co.uk and we will review your filing history with you.

Dormant company accounts are annual accounts prepared for a company that is dormant for accounting purposes. They show that the company has had no significant accounting transactions during the period. Even though the company is dormant, the accounts must still meet Companies House requirements and be filed by the statutory deadline unless a specific exemption applies.

Yes, generally speaking. A dormant company is not automatically exempt from filing accounts with Companies House. Unless a specific exemption applies, a dormant company must still prepare and file the required annual accounts. If you are unsure whether your company qualifies for an exemption, we can review your circumstances.

Companies House and HMRC have separate definitions of dormancy. A company may be dormant for Companies House purposes because it has had no significant accounting transactions, but HMRCu2019s Corporation Tax treatment depends on the company’s own rules and circumstances. A company that is dormant for Corporation Tax may need to notify HMRC and may not need to file further Corporation Tax Returns once HMRC confirms this. Filing dormant accounts with Companies House does not automatically update HMRC.

Yes, in most cases. A confirmation statement is a separate filing with Companies House that keeps your company’s registered details up to date. It is not the same as dormant company accounts, and filing dormant accounts does not replace the need to submit a confirmation statement when it is due.

It may need to, depending on its Corporation Tax position. If a company is genuinely dormant for Corporation Tax purposes and HMRC has accepted that it no longer needs to file CT600 returns, then no further returns may be required. However, this is not automatic. You need to notify HMRC and follow their procedures. We can assist with Corporation Tax compliance for dormant companies where applicable.

If required dormant company accounts are not filed by the applicable Companies House deadline, the company may face late-filing penalties. Dormant status does not automatically protect a company from these penalties. The amount depends on how late the accounts are filed and the company’s circumstances. Companies House may also require the outstanding accounts to be filed even after a penalty is issued.

Yes. A company that has been incorporated but has never traded may still meet the definition of dormant for Companies House purposes if it has had no significant accounting transactions. It will generally need to file dormant accounts from incorporation onwards until it either starts trading or is dissolved. Filing obligations apply from the company’s first accounting period.
